Not Trump but Barack Obama had 3 of the 10 Most retweeted tweets of 2017
Donald Trump certainly didn’t make the list but former US president, Barack Obama whose tweet in response to Charlottesville was retweeted 1.7 million
times and has 4.5 million likes made the list.
First things first: The most-retweeted tweet
of 2017 — and for that matter, of all time — was by a teenager, Carter Wilkerson who
wanted Wendy’s to give him free chicken nuggets.
The No.1 retweeted tweet came from Carter Wilkerson, who begged people to retweet him so that he could get a year's worth of free chicken nuggets from Wendy's. The 3.6 million retweets fell short of the 18-million bar set by the fast-food chain, but Wendy's gave Wilkerson the nuggets anyway for the effort.
The said tweet in response to Charlottesville was retweeted 1.7 million times and has 4.5 million likes. Not long after it was posted, it became the most-liked tweet on Twitter, ever.
Cleveland Cavaliers star James was seventh with a tweet that criticised President Donald Trump over his decision to rescind Stephen Curry's invitation to the White House to celebrate the Golden State Warriors' NBA championship.
And surprisingly, in a year, when the current president regularly steers an entire day’s news cycle by tweeting a bunch of things before dawn, could only make it to the top of the list of most-talked-about global leaders and U.S. politicians.

But this is not about the Chicken Nuggets Boy, but Obama whose tweet came second with 1.7m retweets, taking three of the top 10 spots on the list.HELP ME PLEASE. A MAN NEEDS HIS NUGGS pic.twitter.com/4SrfHmEMo3— Carter Wilkerson (@carterjwm) April 6, 2017
No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion. . Obama tweeted.
This tweet was posted in the wake of the white-nationalist rally in August in Charlottesville, Virginia, where a 20-year-old with a long history of sympathizing with Nazi views was arrested for allegedly plowing a car into a crowd of anti-racism demonstrators, killing one person and injuring more than a dozen others."No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion..." pic.twitter.com/InZ58zkoAm— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) August 13, 2017
