Libyan student stabbed to death in Alsancak

A 22-year-old Libyan student in North Cyprus, Mohamed Jumaa Salem Attroug was on Thursday stabbed to death following an argument by a Jordanian citizen.

According to police report, the incident happened at about 1:45 pm on Thursday afternoon on the ground floor of his residence at number 4, Piyale Paşa Street in Alsancak.

The victim was said to have engaged in a heated argument with one Jordanian citizen identified as, MHMAR, 25 over a girl when stabbed him in his left abdominal region and chest with his knife and unscrewed it about 5 to 6 times, injuring the victim severely.
 
Attroug was rushed to the hospital by his friends but lost his life despite all medical interventions.
 
The suspect MHMAR was arrested when he attempted to flee the country through Ercan Airport. Other suspects believed to be linked to the incident, TKT, 24, a Jordanian and MKMT, 28 were also arrested.

Before his death, Attroug was an engineering student at the Cyprus International University. The university has issued a condolence message to the Libyan community in CIU and North Cyprus.

With the murder, the number of murders in the TRNC in 2017 rosed to 7.
