Five injured in Karpaz car/truck collision

Five people were injured on Friday morning, when a truck headed towards Karpaz collided with a car at the Pamuklu-Dörtyol junction on the Famagusta-Karpaz Road.

According to police report, the accident occurred at 9:30am on the Gazimağusa -Karpaz Highway Pamuklu Dortyol crossing.

The car driver is said to have reportedly entered the main-road carelessly without watching and smashed into the truck.

With the impact of the crash, the truck that was on the right side of the road lost control and somersaulted.

Victims being attended to

Among the injured is 70-year-old Emete Gültekin, who was a passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Furkat Bazarov, another passenger in the vehicle, 35-year-old Ali Kernel and Şansel Aykan, 69, the driver of the vehicle.

The road was closed to traffic while the five injured people were taken to the Famagusta State Hospital.
