Another baby abandoned in Girne
A baby has been abandoned by her African mother in Kyrenia, Girne and was given to Social Services Office, Immigration, Identity and Rights Studies Center, CMIRS.
The Director of the centre, Mine Yucel said this was not the only case of such incıdence this year.
Accordıng to report by Turkish Cypriot daıly, Kibris Online, the number of children abandoned in the hospital by foreign nationals in the TRNC increased to five this year, causing uneasiness in the country.
The 22-year-old mother, who is a citizen of the Republic of Congo and a student at a private university in the country, left the Girne Akçiçek Hospital Maternity Service the day after she gave birth. The abandoned baby is under the supervision of the Social Services Office.
According to a study conducted by Immigration, Identity and Rights Studies Center which revealed on foreign students studying in the country, facts of what foreign female students experience were revealed.
In one of these life stories, a female student who is pregnant with her boyfriend and gives birth has to leave her education. One of the foreign students who told Mine Yucel about the difficulties they experienced in the country says, "Students have to turn to drugs, prostitution, etc. to cope with economic difficulties."
