Two Israelis fined for assaulting police officers at south Cyprus airport

Two Israeli men has been fined €300 and €100 each for assaulting and verbally abusing police officers at Larnaca airport in south Cyprus, while drunk following a court appearance on Friday.

The two men were part of a group of 39 Israelis that were banned from entering the country on Tuesday after they said they would be staying in the north of the island.


The two were set to depart to Israel on Thursday but assaulted officers in the transit hall, report Greek Cypriot daily, DailyMail.


They admitted to the assault and to being drunk in court on Friday, with a €300 and €100 fine respectively.


Non-EU nationals are barred entry if they intend on staying in north Cyprus.
