Student arrested for drug possession

The North Cyprus narcotics police have arrested one Mohammad Alnoor, a student in the island and confiscated material believed to be drugs found in his possession.

According to police report, the suspect who was found with about 550-milligram dose of synthetic cannabionid type drug was arrested in a university dormitory on MTuesday, November, 28.

He appeared in a Famagusta Accident Court, on Tuesday, November, 28 on the charge of drug possession and was ordered to remain in police detention for two days pending investigation into the alleged drug act. 
 
A police officer of the Narcotic and Smuggling Prevention Directorate, Mahir Türe'yi, testified as a witness against the suspect in court.

The witness told the court that he and his team carried out a search at the university campus between between 11.10 and 11.40am on November 28, 2017 following a notice.

He said he had found and confiscated materials he believed were 50 milligrams of synthetic cannabonid in a green container in a drawer and half a gram of drug in a glass case.

The police witness then requested that that the suspect be place in custody for three days, which was limited by the prosecutor to two days.
