Naked student arrested at a South African university following a protest

A video of police dragging and forcing a fully naked protesting University of Cape Town female student in Western Cape has emerged on social media.

The video shows two female cops dragging into a police car a young unconscious lady amid the ongoing Fees Must Fall protest in Cape Town on Thursday.

The woman was later rescued by a mob who intercepted the police while she is left to lie on the ground while a clash occurs with the police and the group of civilians.

The Fees Must Fall protests come amid accusations that President Jacob Zuma is delaying the release of  the Fees Commission report

The Fees Commission was established by the President to probe the feasibility of free education in universities in 2016 following the fees must fall campaign by students.

There is an uproar on social media following the emergence of the video, with some asking Police Minister Fikile Mbalula why police handled the protester in such a manner when no such treatment was given to the Black Monday protesters.

This country must be shut down. Such humiliation and degradation of students as such. Law should take its course, said one.

According to Varsity News, the student in the video was naked because she was part of a protest art installation. She apparently suffered emotional distress after being picked up by the police, and fainted as a result. She was taken to a hospital.
