George H.W Bush makes history, becomes longest-living US president

Former US President George H.W Bush has become the longest living president in US history at the age of 93 years and 167 days.

He reached the milestone on Saturday, surpassing Gerald Ford who was 93 years and 165 days old when he died in December 2006 and Ronald Reagan who lived until he was 93 years and 120 days old.

Mr Bush, who served two terms as Ronald Reagan's vice president, was elected to the Oval Office in 1988, serving one term before being defeated by Bill Clinton.

Former US president Jimmy Carter, who is still alive, is currently in fourth place at 93 years and 56 days.
