Beyonce to join cast of 2019 remake of 'The Lion King'
Beyonce is set to voice Nala in
Disney and Jon Favreau's star-studded live-action in the upcoming remake of The
Lion King.
The superstar on Wednesday confirmed
the role on her Facebook account in a post that was simply captioned:
"#TheLionKing 2019."
The
star-studded voice cast also includes Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones
as Mufasa (reprising his role from the 1994 original), Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar
and Alfre Woodard as Simba's mother Sarabi. John Oliver will star as Zazu, John
Kani as Rafiki, Florence Kasumba as Shenzi, Eric Andre as Azizi, and Billy
Eichner and Seth Rogen as Timon and Pumbaa. JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright
Joseph will play young Simba and young Nala, respectively.
The Lion
King has made $968.5 million (£772.7 million) since its 1994 release.
The live-action Lion King is expected to in cinemas from July 19, 2019.
