Universities are main source of revenue to the TRNC

The universities operating in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus (TRNC) has been described as the main source of revenue to the tiny Mediterranean island.

According to recent figures released by the TRNC Minister of National Education and Culture Ozdemir Berova, the number of students attending universities in the TRNC, is over 93,000.

Berova made the disclosure when speaking at a meeting he held with the Kyrenia American University’s media group on how TRNC universities contributed to the economy.

According to him, revenues from higher education – universities during the period of 2016-2017 had reached 700 million dollars.

In all of this, what are they doing to help these students feel at home with all the rising inflation in food products, house rents and lack of jobs?
