United Kingdom says it 'Won't recognise' Catalan independence

The United Kingdom has said it will not recognise the Catalan parliament's declaration of independence.

This was made known in a statement released by Downing Street on Friday. According to the statement by British Prime Minister's official spokesman the declaration was based on a vote that had been declared illegal.

The UK does not and will not recognise the unilateral declaration of independence made by the Catalan regional parliament, said a statement by May.
It is based on a vote that was declared illegal by the Spanish courts. We continue to want to see the rule of law upheld, the Spanish constitution respected, and Spanish unity preserved.

Also rejecting the Catalan declaration of independence is Germany's governmental Representative Steffen Seibert who noted that Berlin "does not recognize such a declaration of independence adding that "the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain are inviolable and remain such.
