Sean “Diddy” tops Forbes’ Highest-Earning Hip-Hop acts List

Hip-Hop magnate, Sean "Diddy" Combs has proven once again that rappers don't make the real money, the moguls do as he continues his streak as hip-hop’s top earners, thanks to bringing in an estimated pre-tax earnings of a whooping $130 million in the last year, making him hip hop top earner, but Canada’s own Drake is closing the distance.

The man formerly known as P. Diddy has reigned supreme atop Forbes‘ list of Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists ever since the list was created in 2011, so it is no surprise he also topped this year’s list of Highest-Paid Hip-Hop Artists.

Forbes magazine recently released its annual list of the highest paid hip hop artists, and the Bad Boy boss took the top spot. However, the bulk of Diddy's money hasn't come from music, but rather his outside ventures, including Ciroc vodka, DeLeon tequila, the sale of a portion of his Sean John clothing line, and proceeds from his Bad Boy Reunion Tour.

The world's biggest streaming artist, Drake, came in at #2 with an estimated $94 million. The Canadian rapper also shills for Apple, Sprite, and Nike. 

Fellow moguls JAY-Z and Dr. Dre came in third and fourth. Hov had estimated earnings of $42 million, of course he'll soon begin raking in even more as he signed a $200 million deal with Live Nation that will keep him paid for the next decade.

Others on the list include frequent names like Dr Dre and new comers like Chance the Rapper and Kendrick Lamar.

The top 20 this year earned a total of $619.5 million, up 38% from the previous year’s $448.5 million.

The top 10 highest earning hip-hop acts of 2017 are:

1. Sean “Diddy” Combs – $130 million.
2. Drake – $94 million.
3. JAY-Z – $42 million.
4. Dr. Dre – $34.5 million.
5. Chance the Rapper – $32 million.
6. Kendrick Lamar – $30 million.
7. Wiz Khalifa – $28 million.
8. Pitbull – $27 million.
9. DJ Khaled – $24 million.
10. Future – $23 million.
