Kim Kardashian says she feels insecure about her figure as suffers from body dysmorphia

Not everyone would think that a figure like Kim Kardashian would be feeling insecure with her body especially in this social media age where the mother of two notoriously know for using the platforms to promote her body, often display her curvy physique in censored naked selfies. So what happened to her confidence?

In the latest episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Kim revealed her struggles with body dysmorphia - as she was filmed having panic attack in the wake of a series of viral unfiltered bikini images taken without her knowledge on a break in Mexico in April this year.

Usually body-confident Kim, was ridiculed as she hit the beach with sister Kourtney wearing a black thong bikini - exposing what her famous figure looked like in the cold light of day. 

The reality star admitted that the media's focus and commentary on her figure has become the source of debilitating insecurity for her.

You take pictures and people just body shame you, the 36-year-old explained, adding that, It’s like literally giving me body dysmorphia.

The anxiety disorder, which is characterized by one's obsessive idea that their appearance is severely flawed, is said to affect as many as 1 in 50 people. And while the exact cause of body dysmorphia has yet to be determined, it's believed that environmental factors, such as the belief that others take notice of your appearance in a pointedly negative way, can contribute to its development.

Kim was ridiculed for her body figure in April

Kim went on to say that people assume she's comfortable in her figure, but the truth is "I'm so insecure," she said.

As the emotional scenes were aired, Kim took to Twitter to share reaction to breaking down.

It was tough rewatching having panic attach & having anxiety about traveling, but I’m so proud to also show u guys that I’m ok now, [sic] she shared.

The dramatic episode also showed Kim breaking down in tears over security fears.

Revealing she was still scarred by the terrifying Paris robbery, Kim sobbed as she realised she'd been papped unawares.
