Group urge Turkish Cypriot to sign petition against decision to keep summer time in North Cyprus

A group including 36 organisations united against the continuation of summer time in the TRNC has held a press conference urging Turkish Cypriot to sign a petition against decision to keep summer time in North Cyprus.

The 36 organisations, including unions, NGOs and political party representatives presented a petition urging people who are against keeping the summer time permanent, to sign.

The group accused the government of acting like a representative of another country, not the government of this country standing against the the continuation of summer time practice.

The group also said a lawsuit could be presented next week if the government does not reverse its decision not to put back the clocks for daylight saving time, which it said was illegal.

The organisation plans to present the signed petition to Prime Minister Hussein Ozgurgun on Thursday, 19 October.
