Bomb blast in southeast Turkey leaves four soldiers dead
A bomb has ripped into a military vehicle in Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari Province on Wednesday, leaving four soldiers dead and four others injured as they travelled near the border with Iran,
authorities say.
The provincial governor's office in a statement, said Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants were behind the attack and said that a large number of armored vehicles were dispatched to the region to capture the perpetrators of the bombing.
Turkey's Hurriyet Daily News website reported that the wounded soldiers were taken to hospital.
Over the past few years, Turkey has seen a rise in terror attacks targeting civilians and security forces. Most of the assaults were claimed either by the PKK militants or Daesh terrorists.
The banned group is designated a terrorist group by Turkey, the United States and European Union. The militant group has been calling for an autonomous Kurdish region since 1984. The conflict has left more than 40,000 people, mostly Kurds, dead.
