Barcelona may leave La Liga - Barca president confirms

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has confirmed that the La Liga giant are considering playing outside of Spain should Catalonia gain independence from Spain, which could see them trying to join the Premier League or another of Europe’s biggest leagues.

Over 90 per cent of people have voted for a Catalan independence referendum, which has been deemed illegal, as the region is on course to become independent.

He also confirmed the resignations of vice-president Carles Vilarrubi and numerous other staff members had been accepted.
