Police arrest student for drugs in Lefke

The North Cyprus Narcotic and Smuggling Prevention Directorate police has arrested a student in Lefke, for drug related offences. 



The 20-year-old suspect identified with the initials C. O, was arrested on Sunday night following a search by the police.




According to report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Havidis, the suspect who is a student at a university in Lefke, was searched by the narcotic team after they noticed his suspicious movements on Atatürk Caddesi in Lefke on Sunday night.




Report say six pieces of paper-wrapped bonzai (PMC ) were allegedly found in his wallet and seized.




The team say the suspect confessed to the crime during the first interrogation, and was taken to the Nicosia Accident Court on Monday with a request to detain him.




Presiding Judge, Zehra Yalkut Bilgeç, ruled that the suspect be remanded in police custody for three days while investigation continues against him.


Meanwhile, police say they are looking out for another person related to the incident.
