Fake house agent scammed 13 students of 49,550 TL, to remian in detention

Still on the man who is in the habit of scamming students seeking to rent apartments in North Cyprus. Investigation has revealed that he fraudulently scammed 13 students of 49,550 TL while his detention period has now been extended. 

Ahmet Uğurlu Şanlıtürk, Lapis Property Director appeared at a Nicosia Accident court on Friday, last week after he was accused of renting out houses belonging to other real estate companies in Lefkosa by claiming they were under his responsibility and also for renting out the same apartment to different people, duping them of their hard earned money.

Investigation carried out by police revealed that Ahmet scammed unsuspecting victims to the tune of 49,550 TL by renting houses not under his responsibilities to 13 different university students using social media.

Ahmet confirmed to the court that he scammed his victims using "fake and edited fraudulent document." 

Police officer Fahri Gumussoy, revealed that Ahmet advertised "rental properties" by writing fake addresses on the photographs that he obtained from different real estate advertisements without the consent of the leasing authority. He is said to have rented out houses using social media between July-September 2017, and also prepared fake lease contracts for the people he connected with.
 
Gumussoy said that Ahmet collected about 49, 550 TL in total, and that statements were taken from 13 victims.
 
According to him, they were still receiving new complainant about the issue since the emergence of the matter. 
 
Gümüşsoy said that statements from the 13 victims were examined because he was a sought after person and demanded that he be held in custody for two more days.
