EMU listed in Times Higher Education World ranking

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) has been ranked as the best university in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus, by a UK-based higher education rating board for Times Higher Education (THE) 2017-2018 Academic Year. 

EMU happen to be the only university in the TRNC to be listed in the 2017 - 2018 World University Ranking, where 1100 universities from 79 different countries were ranked.

The rector of the university, Professor Dr. Necdet Osam in a statement regarding the ranking said the university is honored and proud of the success achieved and noted that EMU is among the best 601-800 universities in the world.  

Universities are listed by THE, based on criteria such as university teaching, research, information transfer, international outlook, academic publications, citations to academic publications, international academic staff, international student numbers, social activities, and community services. 

EMU is also among 23 Turkish universities listed in the ranking. 

EMU was also the only university in the TRNC to enter the 2016-2017 Academic Year World University Ranking which was also the first time the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was included in the ranking as a country.

EMU, which was listed on the list of Turkish universities in the previous rankings, was ranked 173rd in the Emerging Economies and BRICS Countries List.
