Egyptian medical student caught with drugs at Ercan

An Egyptian medical student was on Thursday arrested by Turkish Cypriot police at the Ercan airport while attempting to smuggle drug into the country. 

According to a report by Turkish Cypriot daily, Havadis, the suspect Ahmed Mohammed Hafez who happen to be a student in one of the universities in North Cyprus, was arrested by a narcotics detector dog, at the airport.  

Police said they seized 7 grams of of Hintekinevir after searching the suspects backpack and was paraded before a Nicosia Accident Court on Friday.

Police said they were investigating the issue and request that he remain in custody for 3 days.
 
Police officer who gave evidence against him in court in connection with the matter, said the suspect was detected by a narcotics detector dog patrolling the airport at 11.00 am on Thursday September, 21 when he wanted to enter the country through the Ercan Airport. He said a foil wrapped around a 7 grams of junk food was found on him following a search.
 
Presiding Judge, Rauf Kürşad ordered that the suspect be remanded in police custody for three days for investigation purposes.
