16 Migrants found dead in Libyan desert
Sixteen migrants have been found dead by Libyan security forces in the desert near the country's border with Egypt.
According to Reuters report, the
bodies were found about 310 kilometres southwest of the coastal city of
Tobruk, said Libyan National Army spokesman Ahmed al-Mismari.
The area is being searched and there were no detailed information on the nationality of the migrants, he said.
He noted that patrols and rescuers have recovered bodies of Egyptian migrants who have perished after being stranded or abandoned by smugglers in Libya's eastern desert in the past.
Many migrants from sub Sahara Africa, migrate to Libya to search for work, while some try to reach Europe by boat.
