Paper Round: Barcelona to choose between Philippe Coutinho and Dele Alli

Barcelona consider moves for Thomas Lemar, Philippe Coutinho and Dele Alli, as Justin Gatlin spoils Usain Bolt's last major competition.

Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho
Fresh from selling Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain for his £200m release clause, Barcelona want to bring Liverpool forward Philippe Coutinho to the Nou Camp. Barca want the 25-year-old Brazil international to replace Neymar in attack, to partner Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. Barcelona will use the majority of the remaining cash to bring in Premier League target Ousmane Dembele for £70m from Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona consider Alli swoop
Barcelona are also considering a move for Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli. No fee is mentioned by the Express, but they believe that the Catalan club might be interested in the 21-year-old England international after tracking him for a year. Tottenham Hotspur have Alli well down the list on their top earners, so could prove it difficult to hold onto him, despite their wishes to prove they are no longer a selling club.

Four way battle for Thomas Lemar
Arsenal had been in the front seat for £50m-rated Thomas Lemar, Monaco's forward. However, the 21-year-old France international was also wanted by Liverpool and Manchester City, who have yet to seriously reinforce their attacks in this transfer window. However, there's a problem, with Barcelona again being mentioned in the press as a potential buyer of Lemar now that they are trying to fill a Neymar-shaped void.

Gatlin win an insult to Bolt
The Mail on Sunday argues that it was a night of shame for athletics as drugs cheat Justin Gatlin beat out retiring Usain Bolt on Saturday night for the 100m World Athletics Championships 100m gold. Noting the silence, then the boos, from the London crowd as they realised that Gatlin was victorious. The column also notes that Mo Farah has been "paranoid" in the face of questions over his own actions.
