Near East University Women's Basketball Team renewed its contract with US-born Turkish player Quanitra Hollingsworth

Near East University Women's Basketball Team has renewed its contract with US-born Turkish player Quanitra Hollingsworth.
 
The Near East University Sports Club confirming the renewal in a statement said;

We continue our way with Holingsvorth, which we have included in last year's kadromuz.

In the 2016-2017 season, Near East University Women's Basketball Team achieved a median of 14.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in the Turkish Cup with a median of 13.6 points and 8.4 rebounds in the EuroCup. 

Holingsvorth who attained the highest level of her career by winning three trophies with the Near East University, said she is thrilled to continue fighting with a strong and successful team.

We had a good season last year, we won all the cups which we can win, Holingsvorth said. 

This year we are expecting the same again, we are now in Euroleague and we know that we need to work harder, a more difficult level awaits us. 

There is no guarantee that success in Eurocup will bring success in Euroleague. We will play in the Turkish League and the Euroleague and every game will be a tough battle.

 It is important that we are prepared here, we have to focus on each game one by one and I hope we end the season happy as it was last season.

Cemal Batur, a member of the Board of Directors of the Near East University Sports Club, who attended the signing ceremony stated that signing the contract again with Kuanitra Holingsvorth made them feel proud.

We are delighted that our team will continue to lead the way with one of the most important names in women's basketball, said Cemal.

 
He said Holignsvorth made a great contribution to the team last season, both in defensive and offensive play, and believes she will bring more success in the new season.
 

We have a seasoned player who has gained considerable support among our other players when we won three cups this season.

We believe that we will fight to achieve our new targets. We hope with Kuanitra, Near East University will be able to achieve more together for many years.

Quanitra is an American-Turkish professional basketball player who currently plays for the Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi of the TKBL. She was born on November 15, 1988.

In 2012, Hollingsworth acquired Turkish citizenship in order to be eligible to play for Turkey national women's basketball team. Therefore, she missed the 2012 WNBA season and 2014 WNBA season due to Turkish National Team commitments.

She has also had Euroleauge experience in her career and has won the Eurocup Championship, Turkish League Championship, Turkish Cup and Presidential Cups until this day.
