La Liga refuses to accept €222m PSG cash offer for Barcelona's Neymar

Where are the football fans in the house? Come bear your mind on the reports coming out of Spain on Thursday saying that La Liga has refused to accept a €222 million payment from Paris Saint-Germain to trigger Barcelona star Neymar's buyout clause.

The news comes a day (Wednesday) after Barcelona said that Neymar will only leave if his full buyout clause was paid.

According to ESPN FC who broke the news, Specialist sports lawyer Juan de Dios Crespo arrived at La Liga's offices in Madrid on Thursday with a cheque for the full amount but was turned away.

We can confirm that the legal representatives of the player [Neymar] came to La Liga to deposit the clause and that it has been rejected. This is all the information we can give at the moment, La Liga said in a statement to ESPN FC.

Earlier in the week La Liga president Javier Tebas had accused PSG of "financial doping" and said La Liga would not be accepting PSG's payment for Neymar. He also added he was preparing a complaint against the French club to be presented to UEFA and the European Union for what he feels are clear breaches of the game's financial fair play (FFP) regulations.

Talking Point:
-Does La Liga has the legal grounds to reject the payment?
-Will this development affect Neymar's move to PSG?
-How do you think this will end?
