Kenyan's opposition leader, Raila Odinga calls on supporters to go on strike

Kenya's opposition leader, Raila Odinga has called on Kenyans to stay away from work on Monday over disputed election result, reports BBC.

According to Raila Odinga, it would be a "day of mourning for the fallen patriots" after a rally in Kibera, the largest slum in the capital Nairobi.

Official results in last week's election gave President Uhuru Kenyatta 54.3%, against Mr Odinga 44.7%, a result Odinga alleges was fixed sparking wide spread violent protest across the country where at least 16 people have been killed since Friday.

Tension in Kenya after polls
On Saturday, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights said 24 people had been shot dead during protests since election day on 8 August.

The international community has urged calm following the vote.
