Donkey attacks man in Lefke
A rampaging donkey on Wednesday wreaked havoc in the village of Angolemi (Taspinar) in
the Lefke region of Cyprus wounding one man who is being hospitalised
after he almost lost his arm.
According to reports by Turkish Cypriot media, the animal ran amok before charging and then subsequently attacking a 25-year-old Pakistani herder.
The man, identified as Yasin Malek, was rushed to hospital in Lefkosa where doctors managed to save his arm.
Fellow villagers who witnessed the attack said the animal, which
belongs to someone in the community, was not provoked adding that it had
a history of “disturbing behaviour”.
Community leader Izzet Ercagil called on the relevant authorities to remove the animal, which he said reportedly turns aggressive at the mere sight of people, before it causes more harm.
