Donald Trump threatens to shut down the government if he is not allowed to build the border wall with Mexico

US president, Donald Trump has threatened to shut down the government that "nobody will like" if he does not secure funding to build his controversial border wall with Mexico.

Trump made the remarkable speech in a rally in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday, a statement that brings to question whether he was 'fit' to be President.

If we have to close down our government, we're building that wall, Trump said.
We're going to have our wall. The American people voted for immigration control. We're going to get that wall.

He also accused Democrats of putting American security at risk for not supporting the proposal.

Trump had promised Mexico would pay for the wall, but Mexico has so far refused.

The President's efforts to build a wall along America's southern border with Mexico have stalled in Congress, where many lawmakers question whether his main campaign promise is really necessary.

Trump has asked for $1.6 billion to begin construction of the wall and with a budget battle looming, Trump said he would be willing to do what it takes to secure the necessary funding for the wall.

Trump's most popular campaign vows was to build the wall.
