Cypriot traditional weathermen predict a very wet autumn

Cyprus traditional meteorologists in a forecast have predicted that there will be an unprecedented wet autumn according to the traditional weather forecasting known as the ‘minalayia’.

The ‘minalayia’ is a traditional way of forecasting the weather and is the interpretation of the prevailing weather conditions from August 3 to August 15 each year.

Each day within this time period represents one month of the coming year and each 50 minutes represents a single day.

According to traditional meteorologist Leonida Leonidou, the minalayia so far have shown for a very wet autumn with a lot of rain throughout the island.

According to Leonidou, December also promises to be an extremely wet month.

The final forecast for the last few months of the year will be revealed by the end of August when the minalayia come to an end according to the Julian Calendar.

The traditionalists also predicted rain for April, May and June, next year as well as July. They also noted rain for August.

They added that there will be isolated rain in the mountains, on August 13, 18 and 25.
