Wayne Rooney rejoins Everton from Manchester United after 13 seasons

Wayne Rooney has left Manchester United to rejoin boyhood club Everton for a reported fee of £10m, after spending 13 years at the Old Trafford club.

The 31-year-old England captain who is said to have signed a two-year deal at Everton will help fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku, who heads in opposite direction.

Wayne has shown me that ambition that we need and that winning mentality -- he knows how to win titles and I'm really happy he's decided to come home," Everton manager Ronald Koeman told the club's official website.
He loves Everton and he was desperate to come back. He is still only 31 and I don't have any doubts about his qualities. It's fantastic he's here.

Rooney, a product of the Toffees’ academy system left for Old Trafford in 2004 as an 18-year-old for £25.6m, after emerging as one of the most exciting talents in world football.
During his more than one decade at United, Rooney made 559 appearances, scoring 253 goals and overtake Sir Bobby Charlton as the club’s leading all-time goalscorer – while claiming the same record with England.

Rooney also won five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, three League Cups, the Champions League and the World Club Cup with the Red Devils.

He is also the fifth on United's all-time list of appearance makers and was appointed club captain by former manager Louis van Gaal in 2014 following Nemanja Vidic's departure.
