TRNC declared Tuesday August 1 public holiday to celebrate Communal Resistance Day
Tuesday August 1 has been declared public holiday in the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus, TRNC to mark the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces Command, the 59th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Resistance Organization and the 446th anniversary of the conquest of Cyprus by the Ottomans.
The day which is called August Communal Resistance Day marks the establishment of the Cyprus Turkish Security Forces Command and will be celebrated across the TRNC with various ceremonies and events.
Various ceremonies including wreath laying will take place in front of the Atatürk and Martyrs’ monuments in the capital Lefkoşa as similar ceremonies will be held across the TRNC to mark the the day.
Also a marathon will be held at 8am on Tuesday morning starting at Boğazköy and ending at the TMT Freedom Fighters’ Society building in Lefkoşa.
