Qatar's diplomatic standoff: Qatar's reply to demands by Gulf Nations 'negative'
Foreign ministers from the four Arab
nations including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab
Emirates, Egypt, and Bahrain have expressed disappointment with
Qatar's " very negative" response to their demands, and
"indicates a lack of awareness of how dangerous the situation is, thereby announcing new sanctions against the tiny Gulf nation.
The four Arab states cut diplomatic ties with last month accusing it of supporting terrorism, meddling in their internal affairs and advancing the agenda of regional foe Iran, all of which Qatar described as baseless.

The response the four states got was overall negative and lacked any content. We find it did not provide a basis for Qatar to retreat from its policies," Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said, reading out a joint statement on Wednesday.
Foreign ministers of the four states met in Cairo on Wednesday to discuss the situation after the expiration of a deadline given to Qatar to meet their 13 demands.
The political and economic boycott will continue until Qatar changes its policies for the better," Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said at a news conference.

We will consult and we will take future steps in the right time," Al-Jubair said.
According to CNN, Qatar's foreign minister has said his country won't comply with any demands
that it considers in violation of international law.
If you are looking at the demands -- there are accusations that Qatar is supporting terrorism -- they are shutting free speech, shutting the media outlets, expelling people ... . So there are a lot of demands which are against the international law," Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani told CNN's Christiane Amanpour.
