Paper Round: Zlatan Ibrahimovic in shock Manchester United comeback
Zlatan Ibrahimovic in United comeback?
The Sun reports on Wednesday that former Manchester United striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, may make a shock return to
the club soon. Ibrahimovic joined the club on a one-year contract
last summer, with the option to extend for another year. However, after
sustaining significant ligament damage to his knee at the end of last
season, Ibrahimovic was released by United. The Sun reports that having
made a remarkably quick recovery, the 35-year-old is expected to re-sign
with United until the end of the season.
Our view: Good news that Zlatan will recover soon enough to play again but should this be something to be excited about for United who i think has already moved on by signing a replacement striker in the person of Lukaku?. It will be much better for the Swede to move on. United needs to concentrate on youths and give Rashford and the rest opportunity to shine.
Gunners need more than big signings says Wenger
Following the signing of Lacazette in a club-record deal, Wenger has reiterated the club's wish to sign more big players.
Our view: A club of Arsenal's calibre should not be boasting of what they intend to do. Just do it! Signing of Lacazette
has been seen as a statement of intent by the club but are you going to stay there and brag with it for all you can? If need be to break the bank and set new record for top players, go for it Wenger.
Pep fuming over Alves
A number of Wednesday’s back pages report Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is “fuming” after it appeared transfer target Dani Alves
had decided to take his business elsewhere. Alves had been widely
expected to reunite with former boss Guardiola at The Etihad this summer
after leaving Juventus. However, a picture of Alves apparently undergoing a medical at Ligue One club Paris Saint-Germain, which was leaked on Tuesday, appeared to suggest differently, leaving City’s plans in “turmoil.”
Our view: We know how Pep feels on this after Alves may have given him his words but come on, there aren't no more loyalty in football. money talks! But maybe Alves will be better suited to the pace of Ligue One than the premier league.
Barkley home alone as Everton jet off for pre-season
Ross Barkley’s
future at Everton set tongues wagging again on Thursday as it was
revealed the 23-year-old had been left out of the all-new squad heading
for pre-season training. The Daily Mail’s back page on Wednesday ran the
story that Barkley was not included in the 25-man squad headed to
Tanzania because, the club said, he had a groin injury.
Our view: Okay. But Barkley have made his intentions to leave the club. He may be short of suitors for now but lets wait and see what happens before the transfer window close in August. he might still be an Everton player next season. You never know.
