Paper Round: Wayne Rooney and Olivier Giroud on the verge of Everton move
Rooney and Giroud set for move to Everton
The Sun reports on Wednesday that 31-year-old Wayne Rooney will sign for his boyhood club, Everton by the end of this week, having been withdrawn from Manchester United’s squad for their pre-season tour of the USA why Rooney will reportedly keep his £250,000 per week wages at Goodison Park, as it was negotiated he would leave Old Trafford on a free, in exchange for letting United off the hook for payment of his final two years of contract. Meanwhile, Everton were also said to be poised to sign Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud for £20m as Romelu Lukaku looks ever likely to sign for Chelsea.
Our view: None of these have been confirmed yet so we take them as a pinch of salt. It will be better for Rooney to leave United since he no longer features in the first team. With no fees mentioned in this transfer, it already seems like United just want him off their book ASAP. At Everton, it will be a platform for him to get his dwindling career back on track with the 2018 World Cup just around the corner. Giroud will definitely be a fine addition at Goodison Park but 20 million pounds is too much a fee for the French man who rarely delivered at the Emirate.
Wenger seals deal with Lacazette
Arsenal are said to have signed Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette, 26 who completed a medical with the North London club on Tuesday. The deal, as reported by Wednesday’s papers had been agreed, and reportedly worth £45 million – a club record fee – with up to £52m with add-ons.

Our View: Good deal by Wenger. At least for once the Emirate club can boast of a commanding attacker who can guaranty more than 20 goals a season. Fans should begin to show more faith in the team.
Monaco refuse to play ball for Lemar
The Mirror reports Arsene Wenger is ready to continue his spending spree in a bid to persuade Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar to the Emirates. According to the newspaper, the club has given up all hope of signing Lemar’s teammate Kylian Mbappe, though they may be disappointed if they are serious about his compatriot, Lemar. The newspaper reports that Monaco have said they will sell the 20-year-old for no less than £80m.
Our view: Monaco's success story last season has been somewhat a curse as the vultures hover round the club ready to steal their prized assets away of which Kylian Mbappe is the most at risk. Putting an outright fee of £80m on Thomas Lemar is just a way to tell anyone who cares that they don't want to sell but if eventually they receive such fee for the midfielder, it will be too good to turn down. Good move Monaco.
Costa exacts revenge on Conte
Atletico Madrid were said to be “confident” of signing estranged Chelsea forward Diego Costa, and at significantly less than they might have after his shock revelation last month that Antonio Conte had informed him – via text message – he was no longer wanted at Stamford Bridge. Though Chinese Super League side Tianjian Quanjian are ready to stump up £76m for Costa, Atletico are so confident of their £22m bid for the hot-headed 28-year-old, they have reportedly drawn up a training plan to keep him fit while he waits on the Chelsea bench until January next year for the La Liga club’s transfer ban to be lifted.
Our view: Coasta knows very well that he doesn't feature on Antonio Conte's plans for next season which is a very hard situation for him, but holding out to a move to former club Atletico Madrid knowing fully well that the he can't play for the club until January will hinder his chances for next year's world cup. I think both Chelsea and the player should find a way out, maybe let him play until January 2018 when he finally moves to Spain.

Costa can leave Chelsea then play on loan at Arsenal. LOL
ReplyDeleteOur point, he needs playing time till he finally moves. But i don't see Chelsea strengthening another premier League rival.
