Paper Round: Jose Mourinho bemoans lack of signings, Arsene Wenger plans crisis talks with Arsenal duo
Mourinho bemoans lack of signings
The back page of the Mirror carries the question ‘Where are all my new signings?’ from Jose Mourinho. The paper reports that the Manchester United boss is growing
increasingly frustrated at the club’s lack of transfer activity this
summer, having handed executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward a list of
targets before last season ended. To date, just defender Victor Lindelof
has arrived at Old Trafford.
Blog's view: In real sense every manager has the right to be mad at such a slow pace of transfer activity seeing that preseason is around the corner. It's not just a thing peculiar with Man United. Other clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and even City are struggling in the transfer market safe Everton who had already made five signings so far. It has been a difficult summer for most clubs looking to strengthen their team. This is just another media stunt to disstailized the club and it's fans.
Wenger to sit down with wantaway stars
Arsene Wenger is set to hold crisis talks with Hector Bellerin and Alexis Sanchez this week, according to The Sun.
The Arsenal boss penned a new two-year deal last month, and now it’s
time to get his players to commit to the club. Bellerin is linked with a
move to Barcelona, while Sanchez’s future has been uncertain for a
while now, with Manchester City favourites to land the forward.
Blog's view: It is very important to hold on to your top players but players are buoyed by trophies and Arsenal is not creating such platform for stars like Sanchez and the likes to achieve their dream of winning titles. Sanchez looks set to leave, Bellerin might still stay put if Barcelona don't show much interest, but Wenger must do his best to convince them to stay and that means investing heavily in his team this season.
Costa delaying Lukaku move
Antonio Conte’s efforts in attempting to bring Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea are being held up by Diego Costa, who is unwilling to leave unless it’s a return to Atletico Madrid. The Mirror
claims Costa is not willing to be pushed out so easily by Conte, having
been notified by text that he was not going to be in the Chelsea boss’
plans next season.
Blog's view: I don't really see a reason to panic here. Costa cant delay Lukaku's move. The manager has made his decision that Costa will not feature in his plans next season, so whether or not Costa stays or leave, Lukaku will automatically become Chelsea's first choice striker when he eventually signs for the blues. So Costa is not a hindrance. Donnarumma to pen new Milan deal
Gianluigi Donnarumma will reportedly reject PSG’s advances and extend his contract at Milan. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano writes – via the Express
– that the Italian goalkeeper will sign a new deal which will run until
2022. PSG saw a £35m bid for the 18-year-old rejected, while Real Madrid and Manchester United had also been linked with the young shot-stopper.
Blog's view: We always know how this will end. Put more pressure on Donnarumma, make him look like a traitor, tell him his agent is misleading him, make him feel like Milan is the best place for him. All these seems to have worked and don't be surprise when the kid makes a U-turn and pen a new deal with Milan. All the same it will be the best thing to do at this stage when he is the club's No. 1. With such a deal in place, Milan can have a breathe of fresh air, knowing fulling well that the gargaining power will be with them when he decides to leave in the future.
