Paper Round: Conte furious, Lukaku set for Man Utd medical
Conte furious again
The Mirror are reporting that Chelsea
manager Antonio Conte is furious with the club as they look likely to miss
out on Romelu Lukaku who is set for a move to Manchester United. The report says that Conte's
future is once again in doubt over the failure to land Lukaku as deals
for other players continue to drag on.
Our view: This should be the third time Conte is trying to quit Chelsea over transfer failure and the papers won't stop publishing such story anytime soon except Chelsea gets all their transfers target done in time. Don't forget, this summer transfer window has been a difficult one for top clubs.
Lukaku set for Man Utd medical in LA
Moving to The Sun it is reported that Lukaku, 24, is
going to have his United medical overnight at UCLA, and could well
have completed it by the time you reading this.
Meanwhile The Telegraph report that Lukaku's agent Mino
Raiola was key in United stealing the march on Chelsea.
Our view: This will only be good news for United fans who have been frustrated with the lack of movement into the club. But Chelsea are at the receiving end of this transfer as they see their top transfer target slip away into the hands of their rival.
Spurs and Liverpool target Gray wants assurances
The Mirror are reporting that Demarai Gray is pushing Leicester City
on his future as he feels he warrants more regular involvement in the
first team as a starter. The 21-year-old reportedly has no buyout clause
and Leicester want to keep him but both Liverpool and Spurs are
interested.
Our view: You know when big clubs come for you, as a young player, you need assurance that you will be more involved in the team but it seems rather
counter-intuitive to move to Spurs or Liverpool given they're far
ahead of Leicester in the league but actually if he were to move, Spur will be a better destination.
Iheanacho set for £25m Leicester switch
Finally, in The Mail it is reported that Manchester City
striker Kelechi Iheanacho is closing in on a move to Leicester for £25
million because, rather ironically given Gray's situation, he wants more
regular football. The deal could be completed before Leicester go on
tour but Craig Shakespeare will listen to offers for Islam Slimani in order to balance the books.
Our view: Iheanacho is still just
20 years of age and needs more game time which he is not possible with City. He is a proven goal scorer with 12 Premier League goals under his
belt and will surely do well wherever he ends.
