Paper Round: Chelsea set for £250m spree on four new players
Chelsea set for £250m spree
The Mail are reporting that Chelsea are set
to give manager Antonio Conte the green light over a £250 million
spending spree. The champions have signed Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata but Conte still wants more. The report says that Conte wants to sign Alex Sandro, Antonio Candreva, Virgil van Dijk and Fernando Llorente.
Our view: You would think Chelsea have completed their summer business after the influx of some new faces to Stamford Bridge, but they might just be starting according to the above report. £250 million spending spree? That's a lot more.
Sanchez to take pay cut to join City
The Independent reports that Alexis Sanchez is so keen to join Manchester City and that he would accept a lower contract than the one on offer from Arsenal in order to move. The report says that Sanchez is desperate for a move that would allow him to win trophies and would hence reject an offer from Arsenal even if it were to reach £300,000 a week.
Our view: We all know Sanchez wants to move, and not just to move but to win trophies too which is not possible at Arsenal in the mean time. City, Bayern and Juventus remains a better options as they are serial title winners, but he seems keen on moving to City. We hope Wenger allow his wish.
Liverpool demand £30m for Sakho
The Mirror comes with the report that the Liverpool have told Crystal Palace that they will not sanction another loan for Mamadou Sakho and want £30 million for the French defender.
Our view: £30 million for Sakho? That's not so bad. The transfer market has been so difficult and blown away with crazy fees, so we expect Palace to jump on this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Watford and Hull battling for Markovic
And our second story is that Watford and Hull are battling for Reds' winger Lazar Markovic. Jurgen Klopp has decided to take a £13 million hit on Markovic and is willing to listen to bids of £8 million.
Our view: Markovic has been a good team player with the Red but just hasn't had any stability since joining Liverpool. Moving on could be a nice thing to do.
