Paper Round: Chelsea eye up moves for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ross Barkley

Chelsea want to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ross Barkley to help boost their English contingent. It's Friday's Paper Round.

Chelsea want to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain and Barkley
The Telegraph report that Chelsea want to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ross Barkley to help boost the number of English players in the squad. Oxlade-Chamberlain has reportedly impressed Conte with his versatility whilst the club have long been linked with Barkley. The Premier League champions will reportedly step up their interest in Alex Sandro as well.

Our view: We all know how desperately big clubs want to strengthen their side for the coming season. More going for unrealistic targets can have a way of delaying your plans. For me i doubt if Wenger will sell Oxlade-Chamberlain to a rival club even if they decided to sell. But at the same time it will be foolish for the Emirate club to lose him considering how difficult it is to find a replacement. In the case of Barkely its a good option if the Blues can agree a fee with Everton.

Liverpool to make one last bid for Keita
Despite previous reports that Liverpool were pulling out of the race for Naby Keita The Mirror say that the Reds will make one more bid. Liverpool will try with a bid in excess of £70 million to tempt RB Leipzig.

Our view: Liverpool might just have the needed breakthrough this time but you never know. Give it a try Klop.

Bellerin admits place under threat
The Star are reporting that Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has admitted that his place is under threat. The defender admitted he had 'a tough spell' and that this season 'is about holding my spot.' Bellerin could see competition eased if Calum Chambers and Carl Jenkinson leave but talented youngster Reiss Nelson has done well in pre-season.

Our view: You expect so many players to be affected when Wenger decided to change to 3-4-3 formation at the end of last season. And one of the players affected by the change is Bellerin who has gone untouchable in the previous 4-4-2 formation. Now that he is unsure of a starting place in the team, he either step up his game or he be allowed to move to Barcelona.

Romero happy to see De Gea stay
Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has said he's happy to see team-mate David De Gea stay. Romero, who was United's cup keeper last season explained that the competition and friendship between the pair helped them to reach their best levels.

Our view: Good news David is staying at United but who doesn't want to be number one at a top club like Manchester United? Romero knows his position at United and may have sight for the number one spot should in case De Gea moves on. But being a back-up to De Gea is not a bad idea. Last season he did well in cup competition so this season he may be more involved.
