Manchester United complete the signing of Romelu Lukaku for £75m

Manchester United have completed the signing of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton for a fee of £75 million on a five-year contract with an option for a sixth year.

 United first confirm the deal on Saturday morning with the 24-year-old agreeing to personal terms and undergo a medical in Los Angeles.
Prior to his move to United, Lukaku was subject to a late bid from Chelsea but United moved swiftly to close the deal ahead of the blues following their decision earlier last week to withdraw their interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

 The £75m fee paid by United makes Lukaku the second-most expensive player in the history of British football behind only United's world-record £89.5m signing of Paul Pogba who arrived Old Trafford last summer.

 Club manager, Jose Mourinho who is delighted to have signed the forward, told the club's website "Romelu is a natural fit for Manchester United.
He is a big personality and a big player. It is only natural that he wants to develop his career at the biggest club. He will be a great addition to the group and I know they will make him very welcome. I am really looking forward to working with him again.

 Lukaku thanked Everton for his time at the club, and expressed his desire to work with Mourinho and wear the red jersey of Manchester United.
I would like to start by thanking Everton and the fans for the last four wonderful seasons, I have made some special friends and we have shared some amazing moments, Lukaku said.
However, when Manchester United and Jose Mourinho come knocking at the door it is an opportunity of a lifetime and one that I could not turn down. You could see the fight, determination and the spirit in this team during the Europa League final and I want to become a part of that.
I cannot wait to run out at Old Trafford in front of 75,000 fans but before that pre-season is where the hard work starts and I am looking forward to that first training session.
