Why no member of the British royal family wants to be king or queen?

While us commoners spent our entire childhood dreaming of being princesses and princes or even becoming Queen and King in the future — with so many in line — apparently dreading the day they’ll be promoted, you might be shocked to hear that no British Royal Family member wants the throne but it's an admission you would never expect to hear from a prince.

Prince Harry, 32 has revealed a royal secret in an extraordinary interview with US magazine, News Week where he said that no one in the Royal Family wants to be king or queen leaving royal watchers confused.

While discussing the duties of young royals and the monarchy’s public image, which he has played a key role in rehabilitating said;

Is there any one of the Royal Family who wants to be king or queen? I don’t think so, but we will carry out our duties at the right time.

Harry has never kept secret his lack of desire for the ‘top job’ – and now appears to be suggesting that no one else in his family, including his brother William, wants it either.
According to him, Britain and other countries still need ‘the magic’ of the monarchy.

But he adds:

The monarchy is a force for good and we want to carry on the positive atmosphere that the Queen has achieved for over 60 years, but we won’t be trying to fill her boots. We are involved in modernising the British monarchy. We are not doing this for ourselves but for the greater good of the people.

The Queen has been fantastic in letting us choose. She tells us to take our time.

Prince Harry who is fifth in line also appears to criticise his family’s decision to make him walk behind his mother’s coffin as a 12-year-old, saying: ‘No child should be asked to do that.’

In 1997, Harry joined his father Charles, grandfather Philip, 15-year-old brother and uncle, Earl Spencer, in a procession through London for the funeral of his mother Diana.

My mother had just died, and I had to walk a long way behind her coffin, surrounded by thousands of people watching me while millions more did on television.

I don’t think any child should be asked to do that, under any circumstances. I don’t think it would happen today, Harry said.
