Man rams van into worshippers leaving London mosque, screaming ‘I am going to kill all Muslims’

At least one person have been killed and 10 others injured when a van ploughed into worshipers leaving a London mosque early Monday morning, in what police said was a deliberate attack on Muslims and is being treated as a terrorist incident.
According to reports, the hired vehicle swerved into a group of people leaving prayers shortly after midnight at the Muslim Welfare House and and nearby Finsbury Park Mosque in north London one of the biggest in the country, witnesses said.
"This big van just came and went all over us," witness Abdulrahman Saleh Alamoudi told BuzzFeed News. "He was screaming... 'I'm going to kill all Muslims'."
Abdulrahman told reporters that he and his friends had been tending an old man who had suffered a heart attack when the van was driven at them.
"When he was running he was saying 'I wanna kill more people, I wanna kill more Muslims'," he told BBC TV.
Abdulrahman said he had helped tackle the driver and pin him down with others until police arrived reports Reuters.

The attack comes during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan when Muslims were attending special prayers.

British Prime Minister Theresa May said police had confirmed it was being treated as a potential terrorist attack and said she would chair an emergency response meeting later today.

Another witness Neil Basu, a senior national co-ordinator for counter-terrorism policing said,

"This had all the hallmarks of a terrorist incident," "This was an attack on London and all Londoners."

Basu thanked those who detained the driver, adding that "Their restraint in the circumstances was commendable."

The suspected van driver, aged 48, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and will be questioned by counter-terrorism officers.
