Floyd Mayweather comes out of retirement to fight Connor McGregor on August 26
Undefeated US boxer Floyd Mayweather has come out of retirement and have agreed to a crossover fight in the ring with mixed martial arts
champion Conor McGregor on
August 26 in Las Vegas.
Mayweather confirmed the fight in a tweet and Instagram account on Wednesday with a video poster of both fighters with the caption, "It's official".
McGregor, a few minutes later tweeted 'the fight is on' posting a picture of himself next to one of Mayweather's father Floyd Mayweather Sr.
The fight by the two most popular athletes in their respective sports, is expected to gross millions of dollars with Mayweather a solid favorite.
Mayweather, 40, retired in 2015 with an unblemished 49-0 professional boxing record while boastful Irishman McGregor, 28, is the UFC's lightweight champion.
McGregor has never been in a scheduled 12-round fight at the MGM Grand arena.
The fight will take place in a boxing ring at the T-Mobile Arena, and will be governed by boxing rules.
Both Floyd and Conor will be tested by USADA for performance enhancing drugs.
Conor is expected to make around $100 million for the fight, he also sincerely believes he will knock Mayweather out.
