Cyprus to experience gruesome heatwave this week

Cyprus is set to experience gruesome heatwave conditions in the coming week as temperature rises gradually accompanied with a lack of wind, which will dominate the weather patterns starting from the beginning of this week.

The Cyprus met office on Friday said that a gradual temperature rise is expected over the weekend which will reach 39 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday, four degrees higher than the seasonal average.

Temperatures during the weekend are expected to rise to 37C and 38C, a degree higher than Friday, the met office said adding that this temperature increase will create conditions experienced in a heatwave.

The temperatures are expected to drop by one or two degrees on Wednesday this week, but are expected to average around 38 degrees in Cyprus inland for the rest of the month.

However, these temperature fluctuations are expected to only affect the inland.

We urged all Cypriot residence to

*Make sure to drink plenty of water and avoid consuming alcoholic beverages, coffee, spices and rich food.
*Infants, the elderly and pregnant women should take caution .
*People with chronic health problems should seek advice from their doctors.
*Put off the fire from your cigarette completely when you are done.
*Avoid actions that could cause fire, as there is increased risk due to high temperatures.
