Beyoncé and Jay Z's twins born premature, and being treated for jaundice
US power couple Beyonce and Jay Z welcomed their second and third babies on Monday, last week in a Los Angeles-area hospital. But the twins have a "minor issue" because they were born premature, and sources revealed that the babies have remained in the hospital for almost a week and are currently "under the lights."
The siblings will have spent most of their first days under 'bili lights,' phototherapy designed to lower the high levels of bilirubin in the blood that cause jaundice in infants.
Jaundice is quite common among newborns, especially preterm births; twins are more susceptible since they are rarely carried to full term.
Sources revealed that Beyoncé, is doing well and she also remained in the hospital with her babies.
Beyoncé, 35 got married to hip hop star Jay Z in 2008, and the couple also shares five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy together.
Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles
on Sunday confirmed via Twitter the couple had added two more members to the
family, joining five-year-old Blue Ivy.
'They're here! #beyonce #twins #jayz #happybirthday,' Mathew Knowles wrote on Twitter, posting a card saying: 'Happy birthday to the twins! Love, Granddad.'
