'Thoughts are with David at this difficult time': Piers Morgan ridicules David Beckham over King Arthur box office flop
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has taken another dig at former England national footballer David Beckham after King Arthur flopped at the box office, joking that his cameo in the film was the reason for its
lacklustre box office performance.
David Beckham, 42 featured in his first movie, the pal Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword which became a box office flop.
“Unfortunately King Arthur has sunk like a stone at the box office, apparently bringing a dramatic shuddering halt to the Beckham movie career,” Morgan said.He went on to add that:
“If you put someone front and centre like that, that’s the problem isn’t it, he does get the blame. If he’s like, ‘I’m now a movie star’ and it tanks. Anyway, thoughts with David at this difficult time.”
Other critics have described the film as 'clumsy' and 'boring', while the Chicago Tribune's Michael Phillips added:
'I'm no businessman, but plans for a six-film franchise may be optimistic.'
Meanwhile
David Beckham's guest role in the film was also slammed by fans, with
one social media user describing his performance 'as the worst piece of
acting I have had the misfortune to witness.'
'The only thing I took away from King Arthur is that David Beckham can't act. And I think I already knew that,' another added.
