Rise to Wisdom - 'The Baker and the Farmer'

Welcome to another episode of Rise to Wisdom. Today we will be discussing the topic: 'The Baker and the Farmer'.

A baker in a little country town bought the butter he used from a nearby farmer. One day he suspected that the bricks of butter were not full pounds so he decided to weigh the butter to see if he was getting the right amount. He was right. They were short weight, and he had the farmer arrested and he took the farmer to court.

At the trial the judge said to the farmer, "I presume you have scales?"
"No, your honor."
"Then how do you manage to weigh the butter you sell?" inquired the judge.

The farmer replied,
"That's easily explained, your honor. YOUR HONOR, LONG BEFORE THE BAKER STARTED BUYING BUTTER FROM ME, I HAVE BEEN BUYING A POUND LOAF OF BREAD FROM HIM. EVERY DAY WHEN THE BAKER BRINGS THE BREAD, I PUT IT ON THE SCALE AND GIVE HIM THE SAME WEIGHT IN BUTTER. IF ANYONE IS TO BE BLAMED, IT IS THE BAKER.”
Moral of the story
In life, you get what you give. It is important to do good deeds if you want a happy life. Cheating might give you some instant benefits but in long term it will hurt you badly. As it is said in Bible, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you”

This story can be used to share the importance of
1- Honesty
2- Integrity
