Woman stabbed to death in Cyprus

A Turkish woman was on Thursday afternoon stabbed to death in Lefkosa, North Cyprus after she was attacked by a knife man.

The woman who is said to be in her late thirties and identified as Gamze Pehlivan, was stabbed multiple times with a knife in the unfortunate incident that happened at the entrance of a university campus.

From reports gathered, the incident had no connection to the school as both the victim and the attacker were only visitors to the island.

According to an eyewitness who was present at the crime scene, the attacker, who is Turkish and armed with a knife was reportedly seen walking with the victim who is pregnant and another female friend as they were having an argument, before he allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck, stabbed her severally and set her on fire.
He was said to have fled the crime scene in a car as by standers tried to give him a chase before police and medics arrived the scene.

Police quickly blocked off the crime scene while paramedics were trying to resuscitate the victim. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead on arrival.

Police condone off the area
According to information reaching us hours after the incident, the attacker who is 35 was later arrested in Lefkosa.

The incident was the second in stabbing to death this week after another woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in Magusa on Tuesday. The couple were from Turkey.
