Social media reacts to Theresa May's visit to Saudi Arabia without a headscarf
May who reportedly buck the advice of her own government stepped off a plane in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia without the headscarf the kingdom favours for women.
Under the kingdom's dress code, Saudi women are required to wear a headscarf and loose, black robes in public, but covering one's head is not required for foreigners.
May is getting a mixed reaction on social media to the move. Some users see it as a display of feminism, while others call it disrespectful.
A photo showed May's ankles and wrists were covered. However, there is no law in Saudi Arabia forcing foreign visitors to wear a headscarf.

during visits to the country in the past. While German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been doing it since 2010.
