Russia will choose my successor via poll: Putin

Russian president, Vladimir Putin on Thursday said that his successor will been chosen only by the Russian people through the electoral process.

"The president's successor will be decided by the Russian people only during a democratic election and by nobody else," Putin told a Kremlin meeting.

Russia is expected to hold a presidential election in March next year. 

Though Putin who is in his third term as Russian president has not signify his interest to run for a fourth term, but it is widely expected that he will run for a fourth term in office. 

According to Reuters, most Russian analysts believe Putin, who has dominated the Russian political landscape for the last 17 years, will serve one last term before stepping down in 2024.
