North Cyprus police on lookout for abducted four year old girl

Turkish Cypriot police authorities are searching for a four year old girl who was allegedly abducted on Thursday in Nicosia nursery school by her father who may have crossed the border from south Cyprus.


The girl was snatched from her mothers hand by hooded men who were believed to have been sent by her 49-year-old Norwegian estranged father in early hours of Thursday.

According to report, a custody battle ensued between Cyprus and Norway, after the kidnapping took place. 

An unconfirmed report said the father, who was seen in north Cyprus reportedly mailed the mother to inform her that she was well and in safe hands before adding that he would soon be taking her to Norway with him.

Four men believed to be behind the abduction have been arrested and remanded by the police for three days on suspicion of abducting the girl by a South Nicosia magistrate on Friday.

An international arrest warrant has been issued against the girl’s Norwegian father by police in Cyprus.
