MTV Awards 2017 announces nominations & rule changes for inaugural Movie & TV Awards

MTV Movie Awards now have a new facelift and a new name as it introduces the MTV Movie & TV Awards and for the first time ever, the annual broadcast slated for Sunday, May 7 to be hosted by actor and comedian Adam Devine, will recognize TV series alongside feature films — and the nominations for this year’s big show, hosted by Adam DeVine, are finally released. 

Hugh Jackman has received a best actor nomination for his role in Logan in the latest release of MTV movie and television awards in Los Angeles. Horror film Get Out has now received six nominations with Beauty And The Beast and Stranger Things each earning four nods.

Leading the pack with six nominations is Jordan Peele’s record-breaking directorial debut, Get Out, including Movie of the Year and a Next Generation nomination for star Daniel Kaluuya. Beauty and the Beast follows with four nominations, including a Best Actor in a Movie nom for Emma Watson. 

Meanwhile, Barry Jenkins's Oscar-winning film, Moonlight, scored three nominations, including a Best Kiss nod for Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome, as well as a nom in our brand-new category, Best American Story. (RIP Best Shirtless Performance.)
